Distinctive Unit Insignia

Description/Blazon
A gold color metal and enamel device, 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a buff inverted pyramid with a scarlet pale supporting a monogram of "OHIO" consisting of two concentric circles bisected by a vertical line throughout, the inner circle bisected again by a horizontal line forming the crossbar of a stylized letter "H". On the top overall is a black bar inscribed "SUPPORTING ONE TEAM" in gold.

Symbolism
Buff and scarlet are traditionally associated with Support and Service Support Units. Black, gold and the cipher or monogram of the word "OHIO" are adapted from the patches of the 83d U.S. Army Reserve Command (ARCOM) and 83d Infantry Division (ID). This association further highlights the unit's personal identification with, and deep respect for, the distinguished legacy of the former 83d ID/ARCOM and echoes the group's commitment to continuity of service by today's Ohio soldiers. The three sections of the inverted pyramid allude to the unit's mission to support the One Team comprised of the three components of the Total Army. The monogram also is reminiscent of a weapon sight and signifies the unit's focus on combat readiness.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 18 March 2002.
